Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Beautiful later binding with many blanks. Half bound in green leather with marbled paper over boards. Titles in gilt to spine.

[NEVADA]. First edition. 8vo. Original stiff wrappers, titles stamped in gold gilt on the front cover, 37 [1] pp., foreword. The Foreword states, "A history of the Protestant Episcopal Church in Nevada would be practically coincident with the history of Nevada as Territory and State." The first service of the Episcopal Church held in Nevada probably was the one held in September, 1861 in Virginia City. "Six months after this first service, the congregation in that new and booming mining camp called the Rev. F.S. Rising to be their pastor, and then began to build a church? Certainly the pioneers and state-builders of Nevada were not irreligious men. On the contrary, they were men who purposed to build into the fabric of a new state, not only the political and educational elements which make a stable commonwealth, but also that religious element which makes for righteous government." Besides a detailed history of the church and its work, there is a list of the rectors of the parish, including the author, Rev. Lloyd, who began his tenure in 1910. Former owners' ink stamped name and address on front free flyleaf and title page; name written in ink below the ink stamp on the front flyleaf; some toning of the right side of gilt cover title, else in fine condition. Scarce booklet on the religious history of Nevada territory and state.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Lot of 36 titles from the Arno / New York Times Series The American Negro, His History and his literature. All told, the volumes are clean and well kept. From the home of a well regarded historian of Black studies. Also was a tobacco smoker, and that combined with age has led to occasional toning / darkening of the tan cloth part of these hardcover volumes - though without any consistency, it is present to some degree on nearly all. Faint odor as well, especially for those of sensitive nose, though to this seller it is not egregious. Besides that, the condition is pretty solid on all. Binding are all quite strong, sturdy, tight , square. No markings were found in any of the books, and no other damage to interiors at all. One volume has some fraying to the edge of the cloth of the front, and some of the volumes have lesser or greater degrees of rubbing, scuffing, dustsoiling, but all told clean beyond the toning.
