She was a master of both architectural views as well as views of flora. Betty was the wife of Dr. Karl Lark-Horovitz who was the head of the Department of Physics at Purdue from 1929 to the 1950s. Originariamente pescivendolo a Yotsuya Samegahashi, da cui il cognome artistico Totoya/Uoya (pescheria). Allievo prima di Kano Yosen'in Korenobu, poi di Hokusai ne diventa uno dei primi e più validi allievi. Dal 1810 circasi specializza quale disegnatore di Surimono e illustratore di antologie poetiche. Realizza anche un piccolo numero di dipinti con composizioni spesso ispirate a Hokusai. Dalla serie: Suiko Gogyo, dedicata agli eroi del romanzo cinese 108 eroi del Suikoden in relazione ai cinque elementi Gogyo. Nella composizione è rappresentato il guerriero cinese Lu Zhishen mentre sradica un salice per dimostrare la sua forza. Legni rifatti, impressione databile al periodo Meiji (1868-1912). Ottima impressione impressa su carta tipo giappone color avorio scuro. Ottimo stato di conservazione, minimi forellini nella carta.

Totoya Hokkei éå±åæ " (1780â"1850), also known as KyÅsai (æ±æ), Aoigazono (è'µå') and Aoigaoka (è'µå ¡), was a student of the famous Katsushika Hokusai è'飾 åæ (1760-1849) and was known for his ukiyo-e prints. A very important book, very early for Hokkei. A landmark in the publication of appreciations of the new Yoshiwara district in Edo (the âNorthern Villageâ of the title) - here presented in Ishikawa Masamochi's elegant prose and 12 Hokkei illustrations, delineating the 12 hours of the day in the district. Complete. Wrappers are worn with chipping and wormholes and a few spots of toning. Holes in title slip not affecting printing. Wormholes throughout and pages are split. Overall printing fair to good. NEEDS RESEWING.
