Full-Leather. Condition: Very Good. Frontispiece (illustrator). Later Edition. A later edition of this important collection of Lutheran hymns which first appeared in 1636. This copy was bound in 1930 with the owner's name in gilt on the front cover. One of the brass and leather straps is missing, there is light wear to the spine, some internal soiling, and a page loose at the end, but otherwise this unique personalized copy is in very nice condition.

Couverture rigide. Condition: Bon. Remarkable copy of the Cithara sanctorum whole leather bound with rising spines on the back, embossed ornaments on covers, four pieces of brass (4 others are missing,the book is closing with leather laces enhanced with human figures in metal. Ji?í T?anovský (1592-1637), was a Lutheran priest and hymnwriter from the Cieszyn Silesia. Sometimes called the father of Slovak hymnody and the "Luther of the Slavs", wrote in Czech this Cithara Sanctorum ("Lyre of the Saints"), which first appeared in 1636 in Levo?a (L?cse), forming the basis of Czech and Slovak Lutheran hymnody to the present day. T?anovský's hymnbook together with the Bible of Kralice (also in Czech) became the cornerstones of the Slovak Reformation. Good overall condition, old repairs on hinges, rear cover slightly rubbed with two little pieces of leather lacking, laces are a little worn, other minor defects.
