Seller: HORSE BOOKS PLUS LLC, Boston, VA, U.S.A.
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good +. Solid 60 pp stapled paperback with some coffee spill marks on back cover. The font chosen for text is not cursive but a bit fancier than regular "ariel" or the like. Among the Henry family Papers preserved within the archives of the Virginia State Library is a collection of poems written by Patrick Henry's children. These works are beautiful examples of youthful hope and optimism penned at a time when our country was as young as the authors themselves. Filled with flowery descriptions of nature and love, the verse composed by Henry's children reflects the more formal style of the period, as compared to contemporary free verse. The range of vocab, as well as the tempo and classical illusions found within these poems, help dispel the remarks made by Patrick Henry's political enemies concerning his lack of book learning and his low regard for education = False.
