The three woodcut illustrations depict St Augustine preaching before the king of Kent, Ĉthelberht of Kent with his bishops of St Paul's and Rochester, and King Oswald raising a cross before a battle (the Battle of Heavenfield) Hardcover no dust jacket. binding of tan leather spine with gilt titles over marbled boards in good+ condition with some shelf wear to top & tail of spine and edges of boards with some small marks to boards and a little darkening to spine. Inside except for the very odd spot or mark, all pages in very good clean and bright condition. A very nice copy of this 1930 facsimile of the original Translated by Thomas Stapleton, the first edition of Historia Ecclesiatica in English being published in Antwerp in 1565. Very scarce. This is a heavy book and may cost more postage for overseas orders.
