The interior hinge at the front board is cracked but the remaining portion is in very good condition. Binding is tight in the rear hinge is good. The only reason this book did not grade as VG or better because of the front hinge crack. Pages are toned due to age but are clean. There is no handwriting or bookplates, no library markings, no signatures, nothing torn or loose.

Has a typo on the translator name. Every other edition has the translator as "George Fyler Townsend", but this edition has the author as "Rev. Geo. Tyler Townsend, M.D.". All original plates are intact. Book has an additional book after page 224 "One Hundred Picture Fables with Rhymes" by Otto Speckter. This particular edition appears to be very scarce.
