Trade Paperback. Condition: Near Fine. First American Edition. First U.S. paperback printing. Minimal wear to corners, otherwise an excellent copy. 1984 Trade Paperback. xl, 320 pp. This is the first historical anthology of Australian science fiction. It offers a good selection of exciting recent works and also reveals a long history of science fiction in Australia, proving a comprehensive chronological sampling of the various styles, attitudes and ideas of Australian science fiction writers from 1845 to the present. The selection includes excerpts from the utopian and anti-utopoian novels of the 1800s and 1890s, social criticism from a feminist romance of 1901, and social despair from an anti-socialist novel of 1911. "Lost civilization" romances of 1847 and 1898 offer mystery, excitement and high adventure, and an account of a Japanese invasion of Sydney gives a dire warning of racial fear. Major contemporary writers represented are Damen Broderick, Frank Bryning, Peter Carey, A. Bertram Changler, Lee Harding, David J. Lake, Dal Stivens, George Turner, Wynne N. Whiteford, Michael Wilding, and Jack Woodhams.

Paperback. Condition: New. Retaliation is associated with all forms of social and political organization, and retaliatory logics inform many different conflict resolution procedures from consensual settlement to compensation to violent escalations. This book derives a concept of retaliation from the overall notion of reciprocity, defining retaliation as the human disposition to strive for a reactive balancing of conflicts and injustices. On Retaliation presents a synthesized approach to both the violence-generating and violence-avoiding potentials of retaliation. Contributors to this volume touch upon the interaction between retaliation and violence, the state's monopoly on legitimate punishment and the factors of socio-political frameworks, religious interpretations and economic processes.

It discusses the value of the canonical constants and variation of the canonical constants and Jacobis equation. It differentiates the equations containing the Canonical Constants and outlines the values of the variations. Perturbation theory for planetary orbits is developed using an extension of Gausss method to compute secular perturbations. The improvement due to Dr. G. W. Hill is also given. The concluding theoretical portion of the book concerns the first modification of Gausss Method. Utilizing the principles of mechanics, mathematics, and astronomy, the author presents a detailed analysis of the variations caused by this celestial interaction. The work places the author's research within the broader context of the history of astronomy and the development of celestial mechanics. The book delves into the complexities of planetary motion, providing a comprehensive understanding of the gravitational forces that shape our solar system. It also delves into the historical significance of this research, situating it within the broader framework of scientific inquiry. By examining the perturbations caused by Jupiter's gravitational pull on Mars, the book sheds light on the intricacies of planetary motion and the fundamental forces that govern our celestial neighborhood.
