Title in the Tate Modern Masterpieces series, and a work in Tate's collection. Measures 7.5x9.75 inches. Beckmann's Carnival captures the climax of carnival season in Germany. Paperback. Condition: Acceptable. Tate Gallery [Published date: 1984]. Soft cover, 32 pp. Part of the Tate Modern Masterpieces collection, a series designed to provide detailed, informative introductions to key works in the Tate Gallery's collection of modern art. Contents include: Introduction by Richard Calvocoressi; essay by Sarah O'Brien Twohig; outline biography; selected bibliography. Black and white illustrations. This work by Beckmann captures the climax of carnival season in Germany. A period of fancy-dress parties, masked balls and street processions. The two standing figures are based on close friends of the artist. The masked clown on the floor is thought to be Beckmann himself. The Nazis did not approve of Beckmann's work. They dismissed the distortions of his figures as 'degenerate' art. In 1933 the Nazi government removed Beckmann from his teaching post in Frankfurt. Several of his works were also included in their 1937 Degenerate Art show, prompting him to leave Germany for Amsterdam. In acceptable+ condition. White illustrated paper covers have light bumping and creasing to edges and corners and light overall scuffing, aging and soiling. Sticker residue on both front and back cover as well. Binding tight. Interior pages are clean and unmarked. NOT Ex-library. NO remainder marks.

Paperback. Condition: New. Is your perfectionism causing you anxiety, stress, and worry? If you identify as a perfectionist, you may not see your perfectionism as a problem. But striving for unrealistic standards, basing your self-worth on meeting those standards, and engaging in persistent self-criticism will ultimately lead to anxiety, stress, worry, burnout, and unhappiness. So, how can you distinguish between "helpful" and "hurtful" perfectionism and stop holding yourself and others to unrealistically high standards?Written by two clinical psychologists, Perfectly Anxious shines a much-needed light on the hidden costs of "being the best," and offers essential skills based in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help you cope with the anxiety that is driven by your perfectionism. You'll learn how your "need to be perfect" can actually hinder your productivity, and keep you from reaching your goals. You'll also learn skills to help you gain distance from negative self-talk and criticism, let go of unhelpful and self-limiting labels such as "success" or "failure," and give yourself and others permission to make mistakes while still honoring your high aspirations. If you're struggling with feelings of anxiety and stress, and suspect your perfectionism may be to blame, this guide will show you how to stop getting in the way of your own success, and live a life guided by your deepest values.
