Twyn, a printer, was charged with high treason for producing a pamphlet that called for armed resistance against tyranny, a direct challenge to the restored monarchy. The others, Brewster, a bookseller; Dover, a fellow printer; and Brooks, a bookbinder, were tried for misdemeanours linked to the dissemination of the same text.
