"Mary Craig Sinclair (18821961) was a writer and the wife of Upton Sinclair. At the time of the Kimbrough-Sinclair marriage on April 21, 1913, the New York Times reported that Mary Craig Kimbrough was best known in the South for The Romance History of Winnie Davis, her biography of Winnie Davis, the daughter of Jefferson Davis. But in her autobiography, Craig said she never wanted to publish it because she found that "emotionalism and sentimentality among Confederate veterans made writing an objective study impossible." No Binding. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Upton Sinclair, Original signed slip of paper with a portrait clipping pasted alongside. Signed in blue pen. The sheet measures approximately 5.5 x 4 inches. A genuine autograph, this is not a photocopy or preprint. Condition: Slight browning and there are slight scuffed patches to…the corners of the reverse, probably from where someone removed it from an album. Provenance: This came direct from the Jan van Bree estate. Jan van Bree (1938-2024) was a Dutch native and a prolific autograph collector. His collection spanned around fifty albums. It began in 1957 when he wrote to the famous Italian singer Beniamino Gigli and received a handwritten reply. That one letter spurred Jan to write to as many famous people as possible, all over the world and to collect autographs in person. Signed by Author(s).
