Based on te 1864 edition. Normal handling wear. Interior leaves are clean and tight. One of the seminal style books of American architecture in the 19th century by a founder of the landscape architecture movement. Calvert Vaux, an English immigrant, lived in the Hudson Valley of New York where many of his architectural gems still remain, though some in a ruinous state. He was also one of the group of architects who designed some of New York City's great public parks. Contents include many house designs in the Italianate and Gothic revival styles with numerous details. It is also a history of the house designs that Vaux built in and around Newburgh, New York.
