Quelle place de la région sur l échiquier mondial des puissances et du mouvement des idées ? Quid de l insubmersible Afrique, de son économie de production et de trafics, mais aussi de sa pauvreté ? Quid de sa vie spirituelle toujours renouvelée mais jamais contrôlée, de sa vie artistique, elle aussi toujours novatrice ? Autant de coups de projecteur portés sur trois générations, avec d occasionnelles excursions dans leurs passés et dans les représentations portées par le présent.
