Aquiles Vergara Vicuña (Viña del Mar, Chile; June 12, 1895 - La Paz, Bolivia; March 10, 1968) was a Chilean military man, politician, writer and historian1 who served as a Chilean deputy for Coquimbo from 1921 to 1925 and then as Minister of Justice and Public Instruction of Chile in 1927. He was also vice president of the Nationalist Action of Chile (the first Nazi group in Chile) and also participated in the Chaco War (1932-1935) in the service of the Bolivian Army. On February 9, 1927, the president of Chile Emiliano Figueroa Larraín (1866-1931) appointed Aquiles Vicuña as the new Minister of Justice and Public Instruction of Chile. He held that high position for about seven months until September 6, 1927, when the new Chilean president Carlos Ibáñez del Campo (1877-1960) assumed power. In 1932, when the Chaco War between Bolivia and Paraguay began, Aquiles Vergara participated in the war on behalf of Bolivia. MSS8.
