Original quarter cloth over paper covered boards, in the original dustwrapper. A near fine copy in a near fine dustwrapper, reinforced to the head of the spine. Frontispiece illustration by Rockwell Kent, and four maps. This special edition of 1938 precedes the trade edition of 1939. In the book, Stefansson covers a number of Arctic mysteries, including the disappearance of the European colony in Greenland, the lost Franklin expedition (1847), the fate of Thomas Simpson's Northwest Passage expedition (1840), S.A.
