    First edition, 4to, pp. 60; engraved vignette title page printed in red and black, engraved head- and tailpiece and 9-line historiated initial, 4 engravings in the text; full contemporary parchment; 2 old library rubberstamps on title page, and another on the front pastedown, old, tiny call numbers on spine; very good. Clement of Alexandria (b. 150 CE) was a known traveler and had "wide acquaintance with Greek literature; his writings abound in quotations from the Platonic and Stoic philosophers" (OCD). Much of his writings are lost.
