An enthusiastic participant in the gay hippie scene and gay liberation movement of the 1960's and early 70's, Hunce wrote several books of poetry and prose, and he was active also as a filmmaker and a critic of Hart Crane's poetry.". Hunce Voelcker, (1940-1990) was a gay writer, filmmaker, artist and poet who worked in the larger San Francisco Bay Area from 1960s to his death. The PEN American Center bestows the Voelcker Award for Poetry. His papers are housed at the GLBT Historical Society. This poem was published in 1976 by Panjandrum Press. Inscribed by the author inside folder cover: 'For Andrei w/ love and thanks for early readings & for telephone geometry to (square the circle, - with each symbol drawn by Voelcker) with / Hunce.' First edition (first printing). Very good in wrapper (paperback). Presentation copy of an early version. In 3-pronged blue folder. Initial page is original typed sheet, others are carbon copies, some with hand-corrections. Page 7a replaced with different version, both present.

A letter mentioning his own work on geological formations, and Denton's work on Agricultural Labourers. Augustus Voelcker 1822-1884 was a Royal Agricultural Society of England chemist. Voelcker was known for his methodical and precise analytical practices as applied to agricultural chemistry. Levi Leone, 1821-1888. English jurist and statistician. His chief work, History of British Commerce and of the Economic Progress of the British Nation, 1763-1870, is considered to be a partisan account of British economic development. Single blue sheet folded to 4.25x5.25 inches with photo of Voelcker's newborn nephew on cover and a nine stanza poem on rear, signed by the poet. Voelcker is best-known for his "The Hart Crane Voyages" and his membership with the gay poetry group formed in San Francisco by Jack Spicer.
