The Van Vogt novella had previously been serialized in Astounding in 1946 and then included in a collection edited by Martin Greenberg in 1952, in both cases under the title The Chronicler. The Brunner cover has a one inch crease at the bottom right corner. There is tape around the spine but the covers are otherwise bright and unmarked. The book has also had a cover over it which has left small tape marks on the first pages of each novel. The pages are a little browned but they are otherwise unmarked.
