Taber (illustrator). 32pp extract, printed in double columns, illustrated with 13 drawing by Taber, and a half-page map of the stockade and surroundings at Andersonville, faded water-stain noted at top margin of pages, salvaged from damaged issues of The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine, Volume XL, Nos. 3 & 4, July / August, 1890. The infamous prison camp for Union soldiers at Andersonville, Georgia. From the opening paragraph, "The following pages were written during the years 1866 and 1867, almost immediately following my release from the Southern prisons. It is my own personal experience, and was written while fresh in my mind that it might not be lost to memory. It is but the experience of several thousands of others who were comrades with me at Andersonville, Charleston, and Florence, only the half is not told; while if the experience of many others was told it would be greater and worse than my own." Housed in protective mylar report cover.

Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. Russell, Michael. (with S. W. Conser) (illustrator). The thesis of the work is that unfortunately, the covenant relationship that defines a true medical professional is becoming extinct. As health care shifts its emphasis from the needs of the patient to an obsession with cost control and profit, the traditional medical ethic has been replaced. Instead of doctors having covenant relationships with their patients, they now have contractual relationships-that is, doctors now do for their patients the minimum they can get away with in order to fulfill the contract. Dr. Miller's critique of the managed-care industry is both frightening and relevant. 110 pages, including a glossary. Some wear at the head and tail of the spine and along the spine near the bottom of the front cover. Interior is clean and binding is tight. A quite nice copy; available for immediate shipment.
