As new condition blue boards, beige cloth spine, and gold front cover and spine lettering contained in an as new condition non price-clipped color illustrated dust jacket. Includes List of Other Books by Irving Wallace; Author Dedication and Preliminary Page Quote by Jean De La Bruyere. "In his most compelling and intriguing novel to date - the story of an American president who falls in love with the widowed president of another country - incomparable storyteller Irving Wallace explores the world of Washington, setting for some of his major best sellers, including The Second Lady. With heart-stopping suspense, The Guest of Honor exposes the private lives of public figures, and the hidden tremors that can shake the world. U.S. President Matt Underwood is a former television news anchorman turned popular politician, whose handsome facade masks boredom and indifference to his high and infinitely demanding office. Then a routine political luncheon with the beguiling Madame Noy Sang, president of a tiny East Asian republic in the South Seas, pierces through Underwood's apathy. Flying in the face of convention, his advisers, and his beautiful and conniving wife. Underwood forges more than a diplomatic friendship with Noy Sang, and finds himself drawn into the internal politics of Noy's country, Lampang, and caught short by the confused workings of his own heart. Unbeknownst to both heads of state, their subordinates are scheming for power, including right-wing General Samak Nakorn of Lampang and U.S. Chief of Staff Paul Blake. And ace reporter Hy Hasken scents a hidden story, which he will trail doggedly against all obstacles. All have a part to play as both the political and romantic machinations escalate. Finally, Underwood must choose to act either as a president or as a man. And in the rapid-fire and stunning climax, even he is surprised at the risks he will run as his heart becomes a weapon in the arena of global politics." - from the inner front and rear jacket flaps.

First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First edition. Softcover as issued, richly illustrated throughout. A clean tight unmarked copy, light rubbing to covers and edgewear. The document of an amazing project. One of the Angola 3, Herman Wallace infamously spent over 4 decades in solitary confinement at notorious Angola prison in Louisiana. American artist Jackie Summell after 2 years of correspondence posed a question to Wallace, asking him to imagine his dream house. This project became an 11 year collaboration producing an exhibition that traveled to over a dozen countries and was the basis for the documentary film Herman's House. Sadly, Wallace passed away in 2013 of liver cancer, less than a week after he was freed from prison and granted a new trial. An uncommon and important book.
