Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Good. Private publication, printed by Savage & White, Bristol, Autumn 1963; 8vo, 140 x 215mm, pp 28; cream light card, stab stitched, the staples now rusted but otherwise a very good copy. . . . This is the first issue of the poetry quarterly started by the three poets named, which continued for ten issues… and which featured many latterly important poets. This first issue is very conservatively, indeed rather boringly, printed in marked contrast to the approach taken later (see item 798). It includes work by Charles Tomlinson, Francis Berry and David Holbrook as well as by the editors and others, poems and some criticism included. . . NOTE that as the book is slim and light, postage will be reduced from the defaults shown.
The Resuscitator Volume One Number Two April 1964: with handwritten poem by John James
James, J. G. (John) & Wayte, N. R. (editors); Olson, Charles; Zukofsky, Louis; Corman, Cid; Tomlinson, Charles; Gifford, Henry (reviews Pasternak's Fifty Poems); Berry, Francis; James, J.G. (John)

Add to basketStapled Wrappers. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 28pp. James has signed as J.G. James on the contents page & on the inside of the rear cover written out his (Who am I to say?) brilliant poem Days Passing, signing as John James beneath it. Curiously, unlike Plane Tree, which is printed here, not in his first collection, Mmm….Ah Yes (1967) but published, in the same form, in Tragheit (1968). This copy from the library of fellow British Poetry Revival poet, Peter Armstrong who like James & Wayte was based in Bristol at the time so very likely dating his ownership & the poem's composition to 1964. Some foxing. Yapped covers a little nicked, creased & chipped. Ken Baird (cover) (illustrator). Signed by Editor.
