Condition: Near FIne. NA. Attractive French student's geometry notebook, with Art Nouveau styled title page rendered in watercolors, and neat, precise pen-and-ink and some wash geometric diagrams on virtually every other page following. Folio, 33.5 by 24.5 cm. Unpaginated, 39 leaves (with content). Text written on versos, facing the diagrams, in a very neat cursive which might fairly be deemed a calligraphic hand. Diagrams are typical ones encountered in high school geometry for the most part, here rendered perfectly. The most exciting would be ones relating to a tower and a fountain, as well as ones explaining perspective. The notebook is a supreme example of a French lycee student's work. French pedagogy then, as perhaps still, put an extraordinary stress on elegant, artful presentation in student's efforts on par with the demonstration of mastery of the substance of the material.
