Hardcover. Condition: New, still sealed in shrink wr. Dust Jacket Condition: New. 1st Edition. Scarce (Giza Mastabas, 5). Red linen covered boards with gilt lettering on the cover and along the spine. This handsome folio volume is 98 pages in length, with 134 figures, and 63 color, and black-and-white plates (also a color fronti…spiece). Our copy is brand new, mint condition. It is still sealed in shrink wrap. Photographs are available. "The G 6000 section of the Old Kingdom Cemetery at Giza contains over sixty tombs, many of which were excavated by George Reisner in the 1920s and were subsequently re-investigated in the 1970s by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. This publication collates the early investigations at the site with more recent study and presents an authoritative discussion of the architecture, relief decoration and treasures found within the tombs. The book focuses in particular on the tombs of Neferbauptah, Iymery, Ity and Shepseskafankh and the wonderful wall paintings and inscribed texts from them. Three chapters study the evidence for names, titles, careers and relationships and a further chapter looks at mortuary ceremonies. A superb book at a superb price".

Add to basketCloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. First English Edition. Hardback.Foxing to end inside covers and edge. Wear and tear to D/J. Couple of pieces of D/J. missing. Introduction by D. W. Brogan. If anyone were henceforth to ask for the best possible introduction to American literature, for the most illuminatin…g commentary on American history for the past 100 years, it would be sufficient to refer him to this book. Indeed, probably no other single volume provides such an excellent compendium of the thought and writing of any other country for that period. The Atlantic Monthly was founded in 1857 when the dark clouds of civil war were hanging low over the United States, with James Russell Lowell, a future ambassador to Great Britain, as its editor. Subsequent editors included some of the most illustrious figures in American literature as well as anoth ambassador to Great Britain, Walter Hines Page. The English edition has been somewhat shortened from the American in order to obtain a more concentrated interest for British readers; the Thurder article, however, is new. The Introduction is by Professor D. W. Brogan of Cambridge, unquestionably the foremost British authority on American history and literature, and is itself a contribution to be treasued alongside those it introduces. 576 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).
