Together with 9 subsequent and disparate issues, 1900-1903. 24 issues in all. The magazine was published in Yankton until 1901, and thereafter in Sioux Falls and Aberdeen. In 1902 t…he title changed to The South Dakotan. It ceased publication in 1904. The Monthly South Dakotan, "edited by Doane Robinson first appeared in May 1898. Robinson intended that the magazine promote the state of South Dakota and its various authors, intellects, and historians" (South Dakota State Historical Society).
