Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 22 cm. Unpaged, but about 36 pages. A history of a long-lost village centered around a coal mine located ".three miles southeast of the fairgrounds on what is now known as the Runnell's Highline". There had been coal mines within the city limits of Des Moines, but this new mine was established outside of the limits (at that time) by a group of coal miners in order to supply coal to the growing city. This little booklet is exceedingly rare. The text is interspersed with pictures, local ads and provides an index to "early settlers" that includes several hundred names.
