Hardcover. Introduction by Jack Haley Jr. 4to. Black cloth spine with gilt lettering and green paper over boards, pictorial dust jacket. x, 245pp, (1p ad). Frontispiece, extensive illustrations (many color). Fine/fine. Handsome, pristine, tight third printing of this superbly-illustrated history and chronicle, with choice autograph addition: Tipped to front flyleaf is a fine heavy stock 5" X 3" card signed boldly in blue fineline by one-time Tin Man Buddy Ebsen, who dates it 31 March 1987 at upper right. Ebsen (1908-2003), who is discussed and pictured in this book a number of times, was an accomplished actor who appeared in many films from 1936 on, and famously dropped out as the Tin Man in "The Wizard of Oz" during filming when the aluminum dust makeup made him seriously ill; he is often remembered as mountain man Jed Clampett on television's sitcom "The Beverly Hillbillies" (1962-71) and the milk-drinking dick title character on "Barnaby Jones" (1973-80). Laid in is the ideal bookmark: Ebsen's original signature transmittal envelope.
