We lived in Charlotte Vermont for five years and I am sure that this book was purchased at the time. Whether it has ever been read remains a question; I may have to take a peek. This large and heavy hard cover book (7 ¼ x 10 ¼ inches 332 pages) was published by the Charlotte Historical Society dated 1991 and an apparent First Edition. The book is bound in dark green cloth boards with prominent gilt titles on cover and spine and protected by a pictorial dust jacket. The endpapers are decorated with reproductions of an old map of the area under discussion and each of the essays is well illustrated with b&w photos and drawings. There is what appears to be a facsimile of the Author s stamp as Town Clerk on half title page. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There is some minor wear to the dust jacket including edge wear and bumping to the corners and a few random light specks. The hard covers are clean and bright and the gilt titles very attractive against the dark green background. The page edges have some light soiling including what I perceive to be some tobacco smoke stains (probably from my pipe before I wised up) but nothing severe. Inside the book is unmarked and the pages and photos are bright and clean throughout. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
