Original Art. Condition: Very good +. 1 binder, 1 folder, 1 framed pen and ink sketch, and 1 folio sketchbook containing a total of 63 original pieces of artwork done by 2d Lt. Jack Ivan Wolle, accompanied by 25 photographs, 2d Lt. WolleÂ's military records, and photocopies of letters Wolle sent to his parents relating to his art. The artwork is done in a variety of mediums (pencil sketches, pen and ink, and gouache) and sizes range from approximately 4x6Â" to 8.5x11Â". 2d Lt.Wolle was born in Sioux City, Iowa in June 1920. He spent 18 months in the European theater of operation during WW2, in Korea from August 1950-July 1952, and then spent several months in the Far East Command in Japan in 1952. While in Europe, Wolle spent time in England (Braunton), France (Cannes, Tours, St. Malo), Luxembourg (Biwer), Belgium (near Liege), Holland, Austria (Linz), and Germany (Brunswick, Oberzell, Passau) all of which are represented in his art, as is Hokkaido, Japan. The subject matter ranges - from idyllic countryside along the Danube River, to bomb-damaged buildings in Brunswick, Germany, to pencil sketched portraits of fellow soldiers and glimpses at life in the barracks.
