Soft cover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. New York: The Seven Arts Publishing Co., Inc., 1916. The December, 1916, issue, which included pages 95-195 of its half-annual volume. Octavo, wraps. Good Plus only; significant spine damage, rear cover separated and chipped. The curling and wear to covers due to the circuit binding (yap…p binding) method used in the production of the Seven Arts series, which left the edges extending beyond the size of the textblock. Balance is quite ship-shape, textblock clean, sharp and still well-bound. See scans. Another tour-de-force; Van Wyck Brooks, Sherwood Anderson, Kahlil Gibran (with "The Greater Sea" a short but engaging prose visit to the sea with his soul - which at the time was naked, blonde, and female), Frederick Booth, J.D. Beresford, Arthur Davison Ficke, Clement Wood, of course others. The Seven Arts was an entity that should have survived, but, due to its wartime clash of artistic and political ideals, didn't. There has been no other periodical like it. Lpr2.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. First Edition. 1st printing. Black cloth with gilt spine titles. xlv, 778pp. Memorandum with four corrections printed & affixed to recto of rear free end paper. Printed initials of the author on same and printed date of December 31, 1924. Illustrated. Facsimiles. Index. The folding map, "A Conjectural… Plan of the Three Flats Called by the Indians Keskateuw and by the Dutch Amersfoort or the Village of Amersfoort, 12 1/2" x 14 1/2" is present and in fine condition. Simple dated presentation in purple pencil on front blank page, "Mr. Henry A Reynolds / Frederick Van Wyck / January 20, 1925" in presumably the hand of the author. Reynolds is probably the one identified as "Chief of Company Division in the Hall of Records in Brooklyn." (Source: Center for Brooklyn History). This copy good. The gilt is bright but the covers have small spots which show up brightly on the black cloth under direct light (as per photo). Cover corners soft. We are unaware if a dust jacket was issued. A scarce book in first edition, and quite scarce with signature. Inscribed by Author(s).
