Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Not intended to be read from cover to cover, this book was designed instead to be a quick and useful reference for students, young engineers, and experienced professionals alike. It provides guidelines, advice, and technical information for preparing formal documents-covering a range of report formats (e.g. assessment, laboratory, and progress reports). This concise, no-nonsense guide provides alphabetically ordered and cross-referenced topics, which make it easy to find answers to questions related to writing a technical report or thesis. Topics include: the format and content of reports and theses; copyright and plagiarism; print and Internet reference citation; abbreviations; units and conversion factors; significant figures; mathematical notation and equations; writing styles and conventions; frequently confused words; grammatical errors and punctuation. It also provides commonsense advice on issues such as how to get started and how to keep your reader's attention.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. Welcome to the Sisters in Crime/Los Angeles Chapter short story anthology, Avenging Angelenos. It has been my honor to serve as president of the chapter these past few years, and I am so proud of the people and the work that went into making this specific anthology happen. The biennial anthology is one of my favorite benefits that we offer to our chapter members. Only chapter members can submit. For our new writers, it's an opportunity to get that all-important first credit. For many of our established writers, it's a chance to shake the stuffing out and try something different. For others, writing the short story is what they do and it's a chance to celebrate that. Our stories are chosen blind, so that even the newest writer will not get lost. It's a complicated process and a lot of work for our committee to make sure that the stories get to our editors in a timely fashion. Our committee also must find those editors, which this year was no simple feat. Let's be real, the pandemic had so many of us freaking out that the thought of taking something on like this was just too much. Pandemic or not, people need to meet, to connect, to find some measure of peace in the middle of chaos, and that's what a good short story can do. That's also what we try to do as Sisters in Crime. Our national organization is about inclusion and we do our best, in our own stumbling, faulty way, to comply. Our job is to offer support for our members and make sure that all voices are heard. Which is another reason why this anthology is so important to me. It's another platform, another opportunity to let our members' voices be heard. Come hear what we have to say, then come join us and let us hear your story. Paperback. Condition: Good. One morning in March 1888, twelve-year-old Milton Daub awoke to find the world buried in snow. The blizzard was like nothing Milton and his neighbors in the Bronx had ever seen. No one dared go out into the storm. No one, that is, except Milton. He and his father made a pair of snowshoes from barrel hoops and old roller skates. Then Milton stepped bravely into the storm to buy milk for his family. Soon he was buying supplies for everyone in the area. His neighbors declared him a hero. The Blizzard of 1888 set records in the Northeast that are still unbroken. It forced whole cities to shut down for days. But Milton didn't let the snow stop him from helping neighbors in need. His true story is both an exciting adventure and a heartwarming glimpse of old New York. Young, Mary O'Keefe (illustrator).…
