La evidencia más significativa que apoya la adopción de un enfoque de terapia breve son los datos: un gran número de clientes asiste a una sola sesión, esté planeada o no. Este hecho tiene una profunda implicación para todos los enfoques de la terapia y por ello la SST es un modelo contextual, una práctica que se esfuerza por activar los propios recursos de los clientes.
