Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. PEOPLES SEAS AND SHIPS BY ZVI HERMAN 1967 1ST AMERICAN 10 FOLD-OUT COLOR PLATES. Quoting from the flap of the dust jacket: This book is a spirited expert account of the infancy of deep-sea voyaging and its development by the ancient peoples of the eastern Mediterranean in a quest for power and wealth- exploration and glory. It is also a detailed magnificently illustrated history of the ship and of ancient man s daring experiences as he learned to master the seas. Please find then: Peoples, Seas and Ships by Zvi Herman, translated from the French by Len Ortzen. This medium-sized hard cover book (7 ½ x 10 ½ inches 222 pages) was published by G.P. Putnam s Sons of New York dated 1967 and the First American Edition (so stated). The book is bound in wine red cloth with gilt titles on cover and spine and protected by a printed colorful dust jacket. It is very well illustrated with countless figures and diagrams about the subject all crowned by a series of ten fold-out color reproductions of an array of different ships from different cultures and times. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There is some wear and tear to the dust jacket including bumped corners and spine tips and small tears and some darkening. It is also price-clipped. The hard covers have clearly benefited from the dust jacket as they are clean and bright with just some faint wear to the corners and spine tips; their gilt titles still bright and attractive. Inside the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are clean and bright throughout. There is no toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
