Artists in the 18th century such as Barry, Reynolds, and the author of this book, sought to elevate the study of the arts by emulating the ancients. Through their writings and teachings, a better sense of the importance of classical works has been restored. This book provides a thorough examination of these principles, captured in beautiful and meticulously-crafted outlines from some of the finest marble sculptures. The author's aim is to enrich the artistic community with grand ideas for historical paintings and sculptures. By incorporating these ancient principles into modern art, artists can create works that possess depth, grandeur, and timeless appeal, similar to the works of the old masters. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
