It attempts to systemise instruction by giving theoretical explanations and technical exercises that the author has tested over a ten-year period and found to be the best approach. The author presents the subject in three sections: Rhythm, Melody, and Dynamics. Rhythm deals with the length of sounds, melody with the pitch of sounds, and dynamics with the power of sounds. The author begins with an explanation of the distinctions, properties, departments, and divisions of musical sounds, then examines scales and notes, and concludes with topics such as rests and measure. The book is well-organised, simply worded, and progresses in a logical sequence of theory and practice, making it an invaluable beginner's guide to the foundations of Western musical theory. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
