A country diary originally written as a regular feature for the 'Guardian' newspaper by the naturalist, John Talbot White (1925-1983), and here pub. for the fgirst time in book form. First Edn., 1974; black boards; titling blocked in gilt (v…ery bright) to spine; [vi]+106pp.; illus. bw. engravings. SIGNED, with a dedication ('To Chris With compliments and affection, John Talbot White'), by the AUTHOR to front free-endpaper. Spine/boards crisp and very clean/bright; front free-endpaper has area of scuffing (approx. 65mm x 15mm) to paper surface at fore-edge (author's signature/dedication not affected), but pages very clean/crisp/bright; dj. crisp/bright/very clean. Loosely inserted in the book is a typed poem, 'Summer Evening: Blackheath', with 'J.T.W. 1948' typed at bottom, and 'chez Christine MacKinter' written in ink (possibly by the author) at top (paper size approx. 245mm x 195mm; poem typed to recto; paper has one horizontal fold, but clean/crisp). Also loosely inserted is an Order of Service for the funeral of J.T. White, held at the Parish Church of the Holy Trinity, Crockham Hill, Kent on 10th May, 1983. VG- in Near Fine unclipped dj.
