Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 96 pages with diagrams. Octavo (8 1/4" x 5 1/2") bound in original publisher's wrappers. (Lusis: 648) [signed by Silman] First edition. Although the Center Counter is almost five hundred years old, the first known recorded instance of the defense being the game Castellvi-Vinoles in 1485, it remains a theoretical enigma. Most modern theorists treat it with disdain, considering surprise it's chief virtue. Consequently it's appearance in grandmaster chess has always been sporadic. Condition: Corner's bumped, lightly soiled else a very good copy. Signed by Author(s).
