Soft cover. Condition: Good. Kathleen Voute (illustrator). SIGNED by author on endpaper and notes written on endpaper by previous owner regarding her heritage of people mentioned in this book. Octavo, softcover, a couple pages at front are coming loose from binding else good in light gray pictorial wraps. 273 pp with index and line drawings to chapter heads. Tells the story of early pioneers who colonized Vermont in 1761 in Old Bennington and later Rupert Mountain Community. The "saltbox home" was a symbol of a homespun and rugged democracy, of folkways that spelled survival by ingenuity, labor and keeping their eye on their goals. Signed by Author(s).
