Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 2005. Signed by Gregory Colbert. A well kept, collectible copy showing only light shelf wear to the deckle edged paper covers consistent with gentle handling. There are a couple of small wear marks along the back cover's side edge, but nothing that affects structural integrity. The binding remains tight and secure with no loose pages or separation. Printed on high quality coated art paper with deckled edges throughout, the interior is clean, bright, and beautifully preserved. A strong, signed example of Colbert's sought after Ashes and Snow letter edition. Presented as a poetic epistolary novel, the work comprises a year's worth of letters from a traveler to his wife, exploring themes of memory, nature, and the relationship between humans and animals. The text complements Colbert's renowned artistic vision and the imagery associated with his celebrated Ashes and Snow project, echoing the contemplative tone and aesthetic of the Nomadic Museum exhibitions. A scarce signed edition, appealing to collectors of contemporary photography, artist books, and those who follow Gregory Colbert's Ashes and Snow project. Its handmade paper wrap, string binding, and deckle edged pages make it a standout example of Colbert's multidisciplinary approach to storytelling and visual art. Note: Signed copies are increasingly difficult to locate, particularly in this condition. Colbert's limited publishing output, combined with the international success of the Ashes and Snow exhibition, has made signed examples especially desirable among collectors of contemporary photography, fine art books, and artist publications. This edition's handmade construction, deckle edged pages, and epistolary format further elevate its appeal as a distinctive artifact of Colbert's multidisciplinary artistic vision.
