This book is a collection of letters written between 1814 and 1815, offering historical context to Britain's financial state and political relations at the beginning of the 19th century. The book critiques the state of politics in Europe during the Napoleonic Wars and discusses financial policies of the time, focusing on national debt and taxes. The author argues that that while the nation has flourished during the war, and commends leaders on their strategy and the people of Britain for their patriotism and support, the author also warns of the dangers of complacency and urges continued vigilance against the threat of Napoleon. The book offers an in-depth look at the financial and political realities of the time and will be of interest to scholars of economic history and Napoleonic history.
