Softcover. Condition: As New. Martin Pfeifle's installations often monopolise the entire space in which they are exhibited. Seen as a temporary infringement, they overwhelm the viewer with space-filling, all-prevailing gestures. The viewer experiences this directly, becomes part of the work, part of an experience that extends far beyond the specific space situation. Pfeifle's absolutely unpretentious, and at the same time sensual and sensuous, handling of modern materials reveals a new view of the sculpture and of the aesthetic perception. Pfeifle uses green carpet for his Isidor installation in Goch: a huge ramp extends into the depths of the space, leaving scarcely any room for visitors to enter. In other works, the carpet material itself becomes the sculpture; it becomes a carrier of visual, aesthetic and existential experiences and simultaneously a medium in the concrete space of the conceptual themes. Published alongside the exhibition of the same name at Museum Goch, April - June 2009. English and German text.
