Dazu gehörte auch Otmar Alt, der seit 1960 bei dem Maler Hermann Bachmann an der Hochschule für bildende Künste in Berlin studierte. Er lernte damals, die reine Fläche als den eigentlichen .Tatort" zu begreifen. Ohne von konventionellen Kompositionsschemata auszugehen, machte er das Geviert zum Schauplatz seiner spontanen Malgestik. Zunächst beeindruckte ihn naturgemäß die persönliche Handschrift von Hermann Bachmann: manche Arbeiten des Jahres 1963 knüpfen in ihrer Subtilität deutlich an die des Lehrers an. Bald aber hatte der junge Maler gelernt, eine lebendige Durchdringung von Strukturen und Farbtupfern zu visualisieren, in die seine unterbewußten Regungen einflössen.
