Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - This study investigated the production of sustainable geo-polymer bricks from two abundant Egyptian industrial wastes, fired clay brick residue (Homra) and marble cutting dust, as an eco-friendly alternative to conventional fired clay bricks. Homra served as the alumino-silicate precursor, while marble waste supplied calcium for geopolymerization. The effects of NaOH concentration, Homra particle size, and Ca(OH)¿ content on brick performance were evaluated through physical, mechanical, and microstructural characterization. The optimum formulation (0.075 mm Homra, 7% Ca(OH)¿, 2% NaOH, and 31% water) achieved a compressive strength of 9.26 MPa, exceeding ASTM C62 requirements for normal-duty bricks, with low water absorption, reduced porosity, and a dense microstructure. A conceptual production plant with a capacity of 20,000 bricks/day was also designed. Economic analysis demonstrated the feasibility of large-scale production, while environmental assessment highlighted the benefits of industrial waste recycling, reduced energy consumption, and lower carbon emissions. The proposed technology provides a practical and sustainable solution for converting industrial waste.…
