About this Item: Goodspeed Publishing Co., Chicago Illinois. Spiral/Comb. Condition: New. No Jacket. Limited Edition Reprint. Early days in Butler County, MO, are recalled in this booklet, reprinted from excerpts from three rare books: Goodspeed's 1888: History of Southeast Missouri, The State of Missouri (1904), and Missouri, a Guide to the "Show Me" State, a 1930s WPA project. The 40-page spiral bound 8 1/2 x 11" booklet, is photocopied on 60# paper. A vinyl sheet protects the front cover. About this Item: Forgotten Books, United States, 2016. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****. Excerpt from Statue of Abraham Lincoln: Hearings Before the Committee on the Library House of Representatives Sixty-Sixth Congress Second Session President, Richard Wallach, mayor; secretary, Crosby S. Noyes; treasurer, George W. Riggs. Directors: Joseph F. Brown, Asbury Lloyd, John B. Turton, Dr. W. G. H. Newman. George H. Plant, Z. Richards, N. D. Larner, E. C. Carrington, John P. Pepper, S. J. Bowen, George F. Gulick, B. B. French. George R. Ruff, Charles V. Morris. John G. Dudley, John H. Semmes, James Kelly, William P. Ferguson, S. P. Brown, Dr. C. H. Nichols, Henry Addison, William H. Tenney. To these were added a number of honorary directors, mostly Members OI Congress, one from each State, as it was hoped at that time to secure a national subscription, to the end of raising a monument at the National Capital, the most suitable place, properly commemorative of the life and character of the lamented deceased. Owing, however, to the springing up of kindred associations in almost every State and city in the country, this hope was not realized, and with the exception of some contributions from Baltimore, among which was a handsome sum from John T. Ford, Esq, the proceeds of a benefit for the monument fund, given at his Baltimore theater, little, if anything, was contributed outside of Washington. The money raised was, however. Care fully husbanded and was invested by the treasurer, Mr. Riggs, in Government registered bonds. The sum raised was, of course, inadequate to erect a monu ment on anything like the scale originally proposed, but was yet sufficient to raise a monument in the shape Of a shaft statue creditable to the city; and it was determined by the association that this was the best course to pursue. Mr. Lot Flannery, of this city, who has achieved a number of successes in his art, one of which is the admired monument Over the victims of the arsenal explosion at the Congressional Cemetery, was the successful competitor for the work and the result is before the public. About this Item: Deneau, Ottawa. Hard Cover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Printing. 247 pp, 9 1/4" H. "In 1921, a 'little band' of disparate activists formed the Communist Party of Canada. Civil authorities across the country reacted with fear, even though R.C.M.P. officers described the party as 'a handful of ineffective English-speaking leaders, a negligible French-speaking element, an isolated Jewish element, with the agitators drawn from the Finnish and Ukrainian immigrants, whose benevolent societies paid for the Party's maintenance'. (This book) documents the ensuing clashes between the Canadian communists and Canada's political and legal establishments, from 1928 to 1932. Dr. Betcherman skillfully recreates the excitement of street fights and court cases, culminating in the spectacular trial of communist Tim Buck. (She) interviewed Communist Party members, Crown attorneys and Defence lawyers of the period, and was granted access to rare transcripts of trials, appeals and correspondence in compiling this, the first detailed and thoroughly entertaining history of these events." Light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, three very small corner bumps. Dust hacket has very light edge wear and wrinkling - mainly at top/bottom of spine and flap-folds, tiny dent on rear hinge, tiny scuffs on rear flap-fold. Seller Inventory # 28377

About this Item: 2011. Soft Cover. Condition: New. Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. F-Gilb Robert A. Slade, after collecting old fishing tackle since 1958 and contributing articles on old fishing lures for a collector magazine for several years started researching and writing books in the 1990's. He published the History & Collectible Fishing Tackle Of Wisconsin in 1999 which sold 4,500 copies. Bob realized that even though there have been many books published on the subject of old fishing lures that few books covered any detailed history on the old lure makers. His latest book writing project was nine years in the making and covers over 100 years of lure making history starting in 1875 and covers over 2,500 lures makers throughout all of North America. The Encyclopedia Of Old Fishing Lures Made In North America is the first publication with extensive history and patent information on old lure makers and the first to include extensive coverage on Canadian lure makers. The author traveled to 11 states and 3 Candian Providences visting collectors homes, newspaper archives, museums and other sources and has taken over 10,000 pictures in preparing the historical stories for these books. The set of books arranges for the individual and company lures makers to appear in alphabetical order. Each book has over 400 pages of text, pictures and collector values with each book containing a table of contents and index as well as a master index for the complete set of books. F.S.T.
