Paperback. Condition: New. The Experimental Novel (1880) is an essay by French author Émile Zola. Written at the height of his career as a leading proponent of Naturalism, The Experimental Novel serves to illuminate the author's approach to the practice and purpose of writing while advocating for a revolution of style among artists of his era. Read as a reaction against Romanticism, The Experimental Novel proves a convincing counterpoint to the excesses and failures of nineteenth century art, illustrating the need for literature to draw inspiration from other sources of human understanding-such as science, history, and the social sciences-in order to effectively explore the themes of everyday life. "The return to nature, the naturalistic evolution which marks the century, drives little by little all the manifestation of human intelligence into the same scientific path. Only the idea of a literature governed by science is doubtless a surprise, until explained with precision and understood. It seems to me necessary, then, to say briefly and to the point what I understand by the experimental novel." Rather than imitate reality, a writer must attempt a scientific investigation of the nature of everyday life. For Zola, plot must be secondary to character, and character must be subject to the laws and limitations of a particular society. As a writer interested in the relationships between rich and poor, citizen and state, culture and economy, and personal and public life, Zola found it necessary to write experimental fiction-literally, fiction which experiments with its object of inquiry. Blending science and art, he revolutionized not only the idea of what a novel is and can do, but the responsibility of the artist to society. The Experimental Novel is a masterful essay for readers interested in Zola's work and in the history and philosophy of literature. With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of Émile Zola's The Experimental Novel is a classic work of French literature reimagined for modern readers.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. A word from the author: Many readers probably think that books about science, especially medicine, are complicated and difficult to understand. In deciding to write about my experience in research, I realized that my choice of topics had involved answers to practical questions which would be of interest to most people. You don't have to be a graduate in medicine, biology or chemistry to understand what I saw as being important in our daily lives. I begin my story with a brief introduction about why I chose a career in medical research. Being a child of immigrants, my early years were somewhat more complicated than those of my classmates, which made me question some widely held beliefs. I have no doubt that these experiences had an impact on my future career in medicine. This path led to a variety of experiences, including: Research that helped show that Aspirin prevents heart attacks;Facing off in court with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and its newsmagazine program the fifth estate; Investigating whether drinking coffee is bad for heart health;Studying whether patients report accurate home blood pressure readings to their doctors;Finding out whether people with high blood pressure should use nasal decongestants; and Learning what to expect from our hearts and brains as we get olderAs you can see, most of these topics should be of general interest. And if you wonder about aspects of ordinary living that might affect your health, you should enjoy reading this book! At the very least, the different chapters should help you to evaluate what you see or read when it comes to the various treatments promoted in the media. By the last page, you will be more likely to wonder which claims you hear about in the news are actually supported by high quality research studies. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. 'I've been waiting for an IPCC scientist to write this book. Where does someone charged with delivering the globe the stark existential truths find their hope; how do they navigate a path forward? How wonderful that Joelle, a nature lover with a poet's sensibility, has been the one to do it.' Sarah Wilson, author of This One Wild and Precious Life Acknowledging that the world as we know it is coming apart is an act of courage. If I live to look back at this troubled time, I want to say that I did all that I could, that I was on the right side of history. The question is, do you want to be part of the legacy that restores our faith in humanity? When climate scientist Joelle Gergis set to work on the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report, the research she encountered kept her up at night. Through countless hours spent with the world's top scientists to piece together the latest global assessment of climate change, she realised that the impacts were occurring faster than anyone had predicted. In Humanity's Moment, Joelle takes us through the science in the IPCC report with clear-eyed honesty, explaining what it means for our future, while sharing her personal reflections on bearing witness to the heartbreak of the climate emergency unfolding in real time. But this is not a lament for a lost world. It is an inspiring reminder that human history is an endless tug-of-war for social justice. We are each a part of an eternal evolutionary force that can transform our world. Joelle shows us that the solutions we need to live sustainably already exist - we just need the social movement and political will to create a better world. This book is a climate scientist's guide to rekindling hope, and a call to action to restore our relationship with ourselves, each other and our planet. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Mastering the art of C programming is a journey that many aspiring coders embark on, and it's one that can be incredibly rewarding. I remember when I first dipped my toes into the world of programming. I was in high school, and the thought of writing code felt both exciting and daunting. C, with its rich history and foundational role in computer science, seemed like the perfect starting point. C programming is often praised for its efficiency and control over system resources. When I first started learning, I was struck by how close to the hardware it allowed me to get. This was both thrilling and intimidating. I remember spending hours poring over textbooks, trying to grasp concepts like pointers and memory management. It felt like learning a new language-one that was both powerful and unforgiving. One of the most significant aspects of mastering C is understanding its syntax and structure. The language is relatively straightforward compared to some modern languages, but it has its quirks. For instance, I often found myself grappling with the intricacies of pointers. It took me a while to fully appreciate their utility, but once I did, it was like unlocking a new level in a video game. Suddenly, I could manipulate memory directly, and that opened up a whole new world of possibilities. As I progressed, I realized that practice is essential. Writing code is like learning to play an instrument; the more you do it, the better you get. I started working on small projects, like creating a simple text-based game. It was a humbling experience, filled with trial and error. There were times when I felt stuck, staring at lines of code that just wouldn't work. But those moments taught me resilience. I learned to seek help from online forums and collaborate with peers. The programming community is incredibly supportive, and I found that sharing my struggles often led to breakthroughs. Incorporating modern tools and software can also enhance the learning experience. I began using integrated development environments (IDEs) like Code:: Blocks and Visual Studio. These tools not only made coding easier but also provided helpful debugging features. I remember the first time I used a debugger to step through my code; it felt like having a magnifying glass that revealed the hidden workings of my program. As I delved deeper into C, I discovered the importance of understanding algorithms and data structures. Concepts like arrays, linked lists, and trees became second nature to me. It was fascinating to see how these structures could optimize performance and solve complex problems. I often found myself applying these concepts in real-world scenarios, which made the learning process feel relevant and engaging. Looking back, I wish I had known that making mistakes is part of the journey. Early on, I was afraid of failing, but I've come to see errors as valuable learning opportunities. Each bug I encountered taught me something new, and I learned to embrace the process rather than fear it. In conclusion, mastering C programming is not just about learning syntax; it's about developing a mindset. It's about being curious, persistent, and willing to learn from both successes and failures. For anyone considering this path, I encourage you to dive in. Embrace the challenges, seek out resources, and don't hesitate to ask for help. Each line of code you write is a step toward proficiency, and before you know it, you'll be creating programs that you can be proud of. Happy coding! Add to basketPaperback. Condition: New. Vladimir Arnold (1937-2010) was one of the great mathematical minds of the late 20th century. He did significant work in many areas of the field. On another level, he was keeping with a strong tradition in Russian mathematics to write for and to directly teach younger students interested in mathematics. This book contains some examples of Arnold's contributions to the genre.``Continued Fractions'' takes a common enrichment topic in high school math and pulls it in directions that only a master of mathematics could envision.``Euler Groups'' treats a similar enrichment topic, but it is rarely treated with the depth and imagination lavished on it in Arnold's text. He sets it in a mathematical context, bringing to bear numerous tools of the trade and expanding the topic way beyond its usual treatment. In ``Complex Numbers'' the context is physics, yet Arnold artfully extracts the mathematical aspects of the discussion in a way that students can understand long before they master the field of quantum mechanics.``Problems for Children 5 to 15 Years Old'' must be read as a collection of the author's favorite intellectual morsels. Many are not original, but all are worth thinking about, and each requires the solver to think out of his or her box. Dmitry Fuchs, a long-term friend and collaborator of Arnold, provided solutions to some of the problems. Readers are of course invited to select their own favorites and construct their own favorite solutions. In reading these essays, one has the sensation of walking along a path that is found to ascend a mountain peak and then being shown a vista whose existence one could never suspect from the ground.Arnold's style of exposition is unforgiving. The reader--even a professional mathematician--will find paragraphs that require hours of thought to unscramble, and he or she must have patience with the ellipses of thought and the leaps of reason. These are all part of Arnold's intent. In the interest of fostering a greater awareness and appreciation of mathematics and its connections to other disciplines and everyday life, MSRI and the AMS are publishing books in the Mathematical Circles Library series as a service to young people, their parents and teachers, and the mathematics profession.

The United Nations has launched an internal investigation in trying to expose a secret world government. KR-84 is the countdown to chaos. (Fight the future) I'm Wilbert Galindo, author of the Introduction and KR-84. I was born November 7, 1971, in Bronx, New York. This book that I written took me years to develop even though at first, I never had a publisher. I wanted to draft a story that would make readers think. I miss stories that ask of what if. KR-84 is the first of many in this miniseries of books. What inspired me to do this project Steven King, Tom Clancy, Robert London, Dean Koontz, and film director Alferd Hitchcock who created good stories. My favorite show is The X-Files. I wanted this book to be different. 13 years in the making and I hope it was worth it. A lot of research went into this project. I'm happy that it's done after all obstacles were in my path. I thank God for giving me the gift of creatively to write.

What am I getting out of this as the author even!? I love reading autobiographies and biographies because through someone's else's joys, pains, successes, failures, bumps in the road, or screaming adventures, I always walk away with a kernel of wisdom that I can apply to my own life. I have been writing ever since I learned to write. I now have volumes of notebooks that I, from time to time, dust off and immerse myself in. I relive whatever I was going through and can remember it as if it were yesterday. It can be fun, interesting, and sometimes painful. I wrote about the science experiments with friends, laughing at how one experiment actually blew up. their garage. (Well, it wasn't so funny at the time!) Beyond the sophomoric memories are drawings made, notes from my dreams, and ideas for screenplays. I found these diaries to be a wonderful place to store my ideas that used to clutter my brain. I found keeping notes in a diary helped relieve my stress and increase my creativity. No, this book is not about convincing you to keep a diary but to convey that it was and is the warehouse of my life. I matured (although, some may argue that point) over my lifetime. From my notes I see when I had a spiritual awakening of sorts. Born into a Baptist family, I couldn't quite get into step with all that was taught. I questioned everything. To the dismay of my parents and teachers, I challenged "the truths". (That usually ended in a whipping!) Not discouraged, I turned to the library and bookstores, and I read about other religions and philosophies. That was a turning point in my life. my spiritual awakening! From my teacher, O.C. Smith, I began to learn to un-learn what I had been taught and that began my "spiritual dance".In this book Spiritual Dancer, I share detailed stories, exercises, and methods that I used and found to be productive in my life. This book is really directed toward you who are still trying to find your way, to find your path through life. Here, I write about my discovery, my path leading to God. I include incidents that molded my life. I write not only about philosophies but also my life experiences to help reinforce the information I try to convey. But one important point I want to make is that what worked for me may not work for you. However, you may find your kernel that may help you. You have to discover your own dance. I learned to meditate, and I discuss various ways to meditate. I learned to free myself from the philosophies from childhood that I could not accept. My desire in sharing this with you is that it will help you to find your own way. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.

" The illiterate of the future are not those who can't read or write but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn."- quote by Alvin Toffler What clearly he meant is that we need to learn and unlearn as we continue to stay updated with what that works and those that no longer works Much has changed since the baby boomers days, including the path of staying ahead in today's digital age. To succeed from now, one must learn to accept the constant change to adaptation - continually unlearning old 'rules' and relearning new ones. That requires continually questioning assumptions about how things has changed, non-valid old paradigms, and 'relearning' what is now relevant to pursue in acquiring your wealth. This book is filled with excellent ideas and concepts of daily struggle to understand money science. There is a lot here in this book that can help an individual move toward financial freedom through understanding money and the mindset required to become wealthy, of which means you need to know what it is that separates the wealthy from the Not-so wealthy. What you need to know and identify with is what principles and what behaviour the rich have, and that you need to relearn . Some of which, You have not taken action to Unlearn yet, to stay Current and Get Ahead " Happiness that Money brings cannot last ," With Money, People cannot necessarily materialize everything, However without money many things cannot be done Accumulation of wealth with the pleasure to have comfort, luxuries, reputable status, financial influence, freedom and popularity are what money usually can help to achieve, its provides a centralized role in our lives, at a general necessity stage level as it helps to clothe and feed us, to put a nice accommodation for stay and pay the bills. Money may not be everything, they may not even guarantee a happy life, but they are a pretty good basis to learn how to build happiness on . for now I highly recommend this book to anyone who'd like to ignore the fluff available on the Internet and take action now. Now that being said, this book assumes you know about the basics like Cash Flow, budgeting, etc. It doesn't talk about investment mediums like stock market, bond, etc. And the best part is that unlike many books, this book tells you not to lead a frugal life Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.

Over recent years, the psychology of concepts has been rejuvenated by new work on prototypes, inventive ideas on causal cognition, the development of neo-empiricist theories of concepts, and the inputs of the budding neuropsychology of concepts. But our empirical knowledge about concepts has yet to be organized in a coherent framework. In Doing without Concepts, Edouard Machery argues that the dominant psychological theories of conceptsfail to provide such a framework and that drastic conceptual changes are required to make sense of the research on concepts in psychology and neuropsychology. Machery shows that the class of concepts dividesinto several distinct kinds that have little in common with one another and that for this very reason, it is a mistake to attempt to encompass all known phenomena within a single theory of concepts. In brief, concepts are not a natural kind. Machery concludes that the theoretical notion of concept should be eliminated from the theoretical apparatus of contemporary psychology and should be replaced with theoretical notions that are more appropriate for fulfilling psychologists' goals. The notionof concept has encouraged psychologists to believe that a single theory of concepts could be developed, leading to useless theoretical controversies between the dominant paradigms of concepts. Keepingthis notion would slow down, and maybe prevent, the development of a more adequate classification and would overshadow the theoretical and empirical issues that are raised by this more adequate classification. Anyone interested in cognitive science's emerging view of the mind will find Machery's provocative ideas of interest. "The book is careful and provocative. Machery provides an excellent review of major issues in the psychological literature on concepts andcategorization and a very useful discussion of the contrasting goals of the philosophers who study concepts and the psychologists who do." - Barbara C. Malt, Mind and Language"I thoroughlyenjoyed Doing without Concepts and found it immensely illuminating. Its claims about concepts brought a number of important issues into sharper focus for me.Further, Machery's discussion of categorization is among the best that I have seen. As a result of reading the book, I feel that I have a better grasp of what the reigning theories say, and of the experimental motivation for them. I also think that the book makes a genuine scientific advance." - Christopher S. Hill, PhilosophicalStudies"Machery has written a bold, original and important book. If he's right, and I suspect that he is, then both philosophers and psychologists who write about concepts will have todo some quite fundamental rethinking. The book is an excellent example of what interdisciplinary work by a philosopher can and should be. It is philosophically sophisticated, clearly and carefully argued, and exceptionally well informed about a wide variety of empirical research." --Stephen Stich, Board of Governors Professor of Philosophy & Cognitive Science, Rutgers University "Arguing that cognitive scientists should do away with concepts is like arguing thatbiologists should do away with genes. Machery's devastating assault has major implications for philosophy and psychology-it rattles forcefully at the foundations of these fields, and dashes the hopes of thosewho think we'll ever find a unified theory of thought. But it is much more than a demolition job. Machery offers a masterful, up-to-the-minute, polemical tour or recent work on learning, induction, and categorization. His bountiful insights and arguments pave a clear and promising path for the journey beyond concepts." --Jesse Prinz, CUNY Graduate Center Over recent years, the psychology of concepts has been rejuvenated by new work on prototypes, inventive ideas on causal cognition, the development of neo-empiricist the Shipping may be from our Sydney, NSW warehouse or from our UK or US warehouse, depending on stock availability.

A small Indiana town with a soul of its own.Imagine if the writers of Northern Exposure sat down with Stephen King and decided to craft a dark fantasy thriller starring absent-minded academians, every day goofballs, and a dark fantasy creature for good measure. Pondering big picture questions like "Why am I here?" and "Does Love Conquer All?" has never been so fun. That's THIS BRILLIANT DARKNESS, the top-rated dark fantasy debut novel by the author of TROLL OR DERBY, Red Tash. Nothing is as it seems to be, and no one behaves in ways characters are "supposed" to act. How will it end? It's anyone's guess, in a book that keeps you turning pages, racing to find out what will happen next.Christine Grace finds her predictable scholarly life comforting, if a bit boring. Her live-in boyfriend presses her for marriage, but she's too philosophically inclined to take an interest. So, really, why does she suddenly start imagining things in the window's reflection? Is time truly starting and stopping all around her, or is she inexplicably cracking up?Greachin is an age-old being so tortured by his own karmic cycle that he no longer knows how to connect, except to identify potential threats through the cosmic ripples of space. When he zeroes in on Christine Grace, he experiences second thoughts for the first time in millenia. Will he go through with his grisly plan of murder and destruction? And what of these other characters--an aging physicist of ill-repute, a stubborn monk who takes his vow of silence too far, and a time-shifting star visible only from Bloomington? What a tangled web we weave, when monsters practice to deceive. Dive into This Brilliant Darkness, and follow the journeys of these characters, from Britain to the Heartland, from January's snowfall to Halloween's costumed festivities.THIS BRILLIANT DARKNESS is a smart, karmic mystery populated by lovable brainy characters. Climb on, strap in, and hold tight.Readers are saying: "This is a fast-paced, exciting book that keeps you guessing until the very end. With an eclectic cast of characters, time travel and a karmic mystery, how can you go wrong?" Zombie Bedtime Stories author Thea Gregory**"By midnight, I had not put the book down, and had no intention of putting it down. At 12:15am, my fourteen-year-old son stumbled out to get a drink of water. "You're still up?" he asked. "Go to bed." I looked up from my Nook, smiled, and said, "Not on your life, dude. Not until this ends." Librarian Amy Marshall**"The way the author weaves fantasy, humor, science fiction, and mystery is, for lack of a better word, brilliant. I read the entire thing with admiration/envy, taking notes and thinking 'THIS is how you write a novel.' Remember when Scream blew the horror world away by actually using technology in a realistic way? Well here's blogging and online forums and long distance cyber friendships, honestly depicting the way we live in the 21st century." Poet Christina Grey**AN OFFICIAL JAMES MASON COMMUNITY BOOK CLUB MUST READ "The atmosphere of this book, so hard to simply label horror or paranormal.how about simply.A GREAT READ, is the true star. Ms. Tash so finely weaves a path of intrigue, terror, humor and suspense, that the reader is taken with each character, so very finely drawn. SQUIRREL EYES is the story of Alvin Bandy, lifelong movie junkie and would-be filmmaker, who finds himself alone in Hollywood after his girlfriend Alison sends him packing in favor of another man. With his career - if you can call it that, when it consists of one incredibly bad movie he wrote - on the rocks, Alvin hatches a drunken plan to course-correct his screwed-up life: he travels to his hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico to seek out his first girlfriend, Kelli, and do what he never did before: have sex with her. Kelli, however, won't be had so easily, and lays down a challenge to Alvin that could either be his undoing or his salvation. Funny, dark, raunchy and sentimental, Squirrel Eyes is a novel about the strength of dreams, the depths of lust, the power of guilt and above all, the glory of cinema and the hold it has on us all. "If you somehow cloned the perfect science bastard love-child of Cameron Crowe, J.D. Salinger and The Kinks, it couldn't build a better story of underdog charm than Squirrel Eyes. Scott S. Phillips creates fascinating and endearing characters, then drops them in the hot zone of their own mangled lives, with nothing but their wits and pop culture to protect themselves." - Axel Howerton, editor, Dark Moon Digest, author of Hot Sinatra "Squirrel Eyes is a crazy journey through Scott S. Phillips' twisted, pop culture cluttered mind. He touches on universal emotions in this insightful, often laugh-out-loud journey through Alvin Bandy's - and the reader's - most denied memories of love lost." - Robert E. Vardeman, author of Burn the Sky "The Fat%ker can write!" - Elwood Reid, author of D.B. and If I Don't Six "With his goofball characters, ear for quirky dialogue, and always-colorful turns of phrase, Scott S. Phillips is like a modern beat writer - tempered with postmodern sensibilities and a generous dash of observational comedy. But that's just an erudite, flashy way of saying that no one makes me laugh louder or harder than Scott S. Phillips." - Brian Jay Jones, author of Washington Irving "Scott's narrative blasts and rattles down the road, chasing rabbits and stray chickens out of its path, while his dialogue sprays the countryside like full-automatic fire." - Victor Milan, author of The Wild Cards Series and CLD: Collective Landing Detachment "Triangulate funny, creepy and melancholy, and you'll find Scott S. Add to basketPaperback. Condition: new. Paperback. I decided to write this book with the aim of enabling people to further bridge the information gap between modern science and the growing holistic approach to human wellness; sometimes referred to as spirituality. I have focused my attention on future generations - our children - as I feel our world will change quickly within the next twenty to thirty years, because of them. It is important to note that within us all there is also a child (the "inner child") that is likely to need healing, nurturing, as well as just simply wanting to have fun and this book provides tools to reach a deeper understanding of our adult self and how adulthood is influenced by childhood. I have had sessions with a vast number of clients over the years consulting with approximately 100 clients per month, which led me to a higher understanding thus enabling me to help family, friends and clients improve their own life or that of those around them. I have been fortunate to have had many amazing experiences and insights with my psychic ability and a number of these have been included in this book. My sudden awakening involved having a series of psychic experiences where I could "see" people's current and past lives and much of this was occurring in my work environment. Using the psychic or intuitive ability that I gained, I have been able to shed light on their situation or condition. The ability gave me access to almost infinite information about people that I came into contact with. At times, just by understanding their situation and being able to resonate with them, I have enabled clients to release their feelings and dramatically move forward with their life. This book encompasses Western World treatments and integrates them with some of the holistic approaches developed by the Eastern philosophers over thousands of years. Eastern approaches to holistic health have started to make significant inroads into Western civilisation, which is certainly improving our world as a whole. Through a greater overall understanding, both parents and children can lead more loving, empowered and free lives. Although this book is primarily for parents and their children, it may well give significant insights into your own childhood even if you are not a parent. I encourage you to seek out solutions and only take what resonates with you i.e. start to use your intuition and listen to your own inner guidance regarding whether to progress further or take a different route. We may find that we fall occasionally along our journey, however, this provides an opportunity to learn more if we can open our minds to experiences without judgement. I believe this book will encourage readers to give more thought to their own lives and to the children they may interact with, hopefully providing them with greater awareness and better choices so they can choose a path that leads to greater joy. In summary, this book presents a number of ideas with some of them being controversial. These ideas have been born out of case studies of my clients whose overall well-being has improved. I see this is due to the inclusion of the "spirit" element in the discovery and evaluation process and believe it has an impact on the person's experience. The aim is to present information and tools that will assist the reader to better understanding themselves and more importantly, their childhood, and children overall. By being happier individuals and family units, we can develop happier communities and countries. Charlie Howell is a baseball player of uncommon ability whose perpetually restless mind seeks to "touch all the bases" and embrace a life of inquiry. He is fascinated by the workings and capabilities of the human brain, so as a young student he immerses himself in the discipline of neuroscience, which he uses as his framework to analyze and understand the world he lives in. Of course, no life fully lived escapes the slings and arrows of disappointment and tragedy, and Charlie often struggles to make sense of why life unfolds as it does. Blessed with natural intellectual curiosity, Charlie learns how to combine his knowledge of how the brain functions with a wonderful capacity for absorbing new knowledge and inculcating the wisdom of those he encounters, particularly one Sarah Wilson. As Charlie discovers, however, there are no shortcuts to learning life's harshest and most enduring lessons. The full breadth of human emotion cannot be experienced by reading a book, watching a movie, or even observing another person. Just as consciousness is unique to each of us, so are the color and range of our emotions. Life is never the same for any two people, and only by living through our own unique experiences can we ever hope to know what life is really about. Charlie Howell willingly takes on that journey, and in the process he discovers a simple truth. In a recent interview, Peter Schuller offered some insight into that simple truth and how he came to write the trilogy. "Ever since I was a kid, I have believed that as a species we could do better, that we could make it possible for a lot more people to escape the consuming drudgery of simply trying to survive and allow them to experience the true and complete majesty of what it means to be human. Throughout my early career as a lawyer and investment banker, I was exposed to many different human systems and institutions, but it was not until I became a management consultant that I saw how things really worked within organizations, and what the norms of human behavior actually are. Anyway, as a result of that experience, I decided that I had to understand not only what those normative behaviors were but how and why they emerge, so I formed a "think tank" to study human consciousness. I did end up publishing a White Paper summarizing my three years of research, but in the interim, I became fascinated by several different scientific disciplines, including neuroscience, complexity science, quantum physics, Information Theory, and epigenetics. So, you see, when I first began my career as a lawyer, I never could have foreseen that I would end up studying brain systems, information theory, and quantum mechanics, but here I am and therein lies the great lesson for so many of us I think--the creative path of the universe has its own set of systems dynamics!" Without her and the incredible community surrounding me, I would most likely be a lost soul myself. Over the course of writing this book, I've made many upgrades and revisions. I've gone through my fair share of troubles with fraudulent publishers and financial hiccups. But despite all of the trouble that I've gone through, I was determined to write this book. For the longest time, I've known that the Lord wanted me to help lost souls find the right path. To teach them about hell, while showing them that there is a path to redemption. Whether you know a lost soul yourself or are struggling to find the path yourself, the 'Black Hole of Death' should offer some much needed guidance. Thank you and God bless.

What is chaos magic?Nearly forty years after its beginnings, Pagans and magicians are still asking the question, or finding conflicting information online.Jaq D Hawkins was the first chaos magician to write of the history and elements of chaos magic for a widespread audience. Now, in this new volume, that history is expanded and the concepts, specialist terms and culture associated with chaos magic are clarified for a new generation of magic users.Basic concepts and methods, associations with Discordianism and the teachings of magicians of the past, advice on how to survive the natural chaos that plagues those who choose the magical path . or more precisely are chosen by it, combine with an insightful perspective of the perversities of magic and the convoluted landscape of life through which the magical path leads us. With some practical advice and basic spells designed to work within the very world of chaos wherein magic finds its direction, this book is a simple yet unequalled sourcebook for dealing with the unpredictability of magic in a multiverse of natural chaos.Excerpt from review by Peter J. Carroll: "Jaq D Hawkins' Chaonomicon gives a fair sketch of the general history of Chaos Magic without going into excessive detail about the personalities and the inevitable personal squabbles involved. She shows the history and genesis of many of the ideas that came together to create a new way of thinking about magic and new ways of doing it.The book contains a particularly good analysis of the historic and current functions of the Gods and Goddesses of Chaos, and the relationship between the Chaoism that began in the UK and the Discordianism that began in the USA.The Chaonomicon also describes many of the basic techniques of Chaos Magic in simple terms free from occult obscurantism, so readers new to the subject can find much to try out experimentally."Excerpt from review by Ray Sherwin: "If this were a film it might be described as "a roller-coaster ride" and, as might be expected, the views from the top, panoramas of magick, chaos science, chaos literature and the mythos itself are replete with comprehensive detail and a profound understanding of the subject. Those looking for a "How to." manual should go elsewhere. I referred to "Tertiary Chaos" as early as 1987 and chaos magick has matured even more since then, as is evidenced, in part, by this book. I recommend it highly."
