Jacket rather edgeworn with single edge chip at lower left of front panel. A tight, handsome first edition -- and a nice presentation copy from the author, who signs and inscribes the front flyleaf in blue ballpoint: "To my best friends, / Mary and Al / June 23, 1970. / Britten." Austin (1922-2005) was an English translator, author and scholar -- and brother-in-law of Ingmar Bergman -- well known for championing the works of Bellman. A most unusual copy.
