Hardcover. First Ed, so stated. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY PHOTOGRAPHER, James Alinder. First Ed, so stated. Very Good in Very Good DJ: Both book and DJ show indications of light use. Book shows light shelf-wear; faint sunning along the top edge of the front panel; lower corners lightly bumped; binding square and secure; text clean. DJ shows some faint wrinkles at the lower corners; just a touch of wear to extremities, but there are several closed tears at the top and bottom edges; price intact; mylar-protected. Overall, remains clean, sturdy, and quite presentable. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 4to. 110pp. 124 pages; 55 duotoned b&w full-page, photographic plates; 9.5 x 11 inches. Introduction by Ansel Adams. Photography by James Alinder. Hardback with DJ. A wonderful collaboration, with exquisite b&w photos by Mr.Alinder, taken in the 1970s, and a brilliant text by Wright Morris, himself a master photographer and winner of The National Book Award. Beautifully printed with all images described and dated; this copy is signed by the photographer, James Alinder, on the half-title page; very scarce in Very Good condition; a gem of a book. Jim Alinder took these photographs during the 1970s.The images reveal the mystery inherent in commonplace objects and events. Instead of the stereotypical somber commentary on America's decaying landscape, Alinder documents the changing contours of its dreams. James Alinder was executive director of Friends of Photography; he is a photographer who experiments with unusual cameras, an editor and educator. This book was shot with an Instamatic. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY PHOTOGRAPHER.

If a country as a limitless as this can ever be said to have posed for its portrait, certainly the photographer behind the camera was Ansel Adams." Due to the extreme weight of this book, postage will have to be determined at time of ordering. "Ansel Easton Adams (February 20, 1902 April 22, 1984) was an American photographer and environmentalist. His black and white landscape photographs of the American West, especially Yosemite National Park, have been widely reproduced on calendars, posters, books, and the internet. Adams and Fred Archer developed the Zone System as a way to determine proper exposure and adjust the contrast of the final print. The resulting clarity and depth characterized his photographs. He primarily used large-format cameras because their high resolution helped ensure sharpness in his images.".
