Boards show minor wear to spine ends but binding sound and square. Slipcase scuffed, toned at edges, and has red and black rubbing all over, likely from shelf-mates. Ribbon frayed slightly at end. Nicolas Barker considers the library's purpose and traces the circumstances of its formation in detail, in the process adding considerably to the biographies of the twenty-fifth and twenty-sixth Earls of Crawford, two highly significant figures in the history of collecting. Provenance: this copy printed and specially bound for presentation to Adrian McLaughlin, with his name printed in red on the list of members of the Roxburghe Club.
