Juni 1911 in Podbisce, Montenegro; gestorben am 20. April 1995 in Belgrad) war ein serbischer und jugoslawischer Politiker und politik- und sozialwissenschaftlicher Schriftsteller. Zunächst ein überzeugter kommunistischer Ideologe und Agitator, entwickelte er sich zum größten Kritiker Josip Broz Titos und des Bundes der Kommunisten Jugoslawiens. Er verlor seine Ämter und verbrachte neun Jahre in jugoslawischen Gefängnissen. Seine Bücher wurden im Westen herausgebracht, wo er er als wichtiger kommunistischer Dissident gefeiert wurde. Ðilas war Sohn eines begüterten Bauern und Polizeioffiziers. Er studierte ab 1929 Philosophie und Rechtswissenschaften an der Universität Belgrad und trat 1932 der damals illegalen Kommunistischen Partei Jugoslawiens (KPJ) bei. Von 1933 bis 1936 inhaftiert, wurde er 1938 Mitglied des Zentralkomitees (ZK) und 1940 des Politbüros der KPJ. 1941 nahm Ðilas an der Vorbereitung und der Organisation des bewaffneten Aufstandes gegen die italienischen Faschisten in Montenegro teil. Er war während des Zweiten Weltkrieges Mitglied ihres so genannten Obersten Stabes (Vrhovni tab) und hatte den Rang eines Generalleutnants der kommunistischen Volksbefreiungsarmee (NOV/POJ). Im März 1944 reiste er als Teil einer jugoslawischen Militär- und Parteidelegation als Verbindungsmann nach Moskau. Dort traf er in Gesprächen unter anderem mit Georgi Dimitroff, Molotow und auch mehrmals mit Stalin zusammen. In der Provisorischen Regierung" vom 8. März 1945 (Koalitionsregierung Tito-ubaic) war Ðilas Minister von Montenegro. Ab Februar 1946 war er Minister ohne Portefeuille in verschiedenen Regierungen. Auf dem Parteikongress der KPJ vom 21. bis 28. Juli 1948 wurde Ðilas in das Zentralkomitee und das Politbüro der KPJ gewählt. Ab Januar 1953 war er Mitglied des Präsidiums des Bundes-Exekutivrats (Savezno Izvrno Vece, SIV). 1954 kam es nach der Veröffentlichung einer 18-teiligen kritischen Artikelserie im Parteiorgan Borba zum Bruch mit Tito und dem Bund der Kommunisten Jugoslawiens (Savez Komunista Jugoslavije, SKJ), der Nachfolgeorganisation der KPJ ab 1952. Das Zentralkomitee des SKJ erhob gegen Ðilas den Vorwurf des parteiwidrigen Verhaltens und entfernte ihn von allen Funktionen in Partei und Staat. Der Grund waren seine realsoziologischen Analysen, in denen er die kommunistischen Kader mit marxistischen Analysemethoden als Neue Klasse herausarbeitete und verurteilte. Wegen Stellungnahmen gegen die jugoslawischen Interessen" wurde er zu zwei weiteren Haftstrafen verurteilt und verbrachte die Jahre 1956 bis 1961 sowie 1962 bis 1966 im Gefängnis. Während seiner Inhaftierungen schrieb er seinen Erzählungsband "Der Wolf in der Falle", der 1973 in deutscher Sprache erschien. Nach seiner Gefängnisstrafe reiste Ðilas 1967 durch die USA, Großbritannien, Italien und Österreich, um 1968 wieder nach Jugoslawien zurückzukehren. 1970 wurde ihm ein Ausreiseverbot erteilt. Im Belgrader Exil kam er der serbisch-orthodoxen Kirche nahe, und an seinem Lebensende angelangt, bedauerte er, am Prozess mitgewirkt zu haben, der zum Zerfall Jugoslawiens mit der Folge der Dämonisierung der Serben geführt hatte". Autorenporträt: Peter Gosztony (geboren am 2. Dezember 1931 in Budapest als Péter Gosztonyi; gestorben am 30. März 1999 in Bern) war ein ungarisch-schweizerischer Historiker. Peter Gosztony wurde in Budapest geboren. Nach dem Abitur studierte er Nationalökonomie an der Universität Budapest, an der er 1952 promovierte. 1956 wurde Gosztony zum Militärdienst einberufen. Er leistete Dienst in der Budapester Kilián-Kaserne, deren Kommandant Oberst Pál Maléter war. Gosztony nahm an den Kämpfen gegen die sowjetische Besatzungsmacht teil. Nach der Niederschlagung des Ungarischen Volksaufstands musste Gosztony aus Angst vor der zu erwartenden Vergeltung seine Heimat verlassen und gelangte als Flüchtling in die Schweiz. Einige Monate später immatrikulierte sich Gosztony an der Universität Zürich. Er begann Geschichte und Politische Wissenschaft zu studieren. 1963 erwarb Gosztony die Doktorwürde mit der Arbeit «Der deutsch-russische Krieg in Ungarn 1944/45 unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Kämpfe um Budapest». 1969 erschien die Dissertation in erweiterter Form unter dem Titel «Endkampf an der Donau 1944/45». Nach dem Doktorat siedelte Gosztony nach Bern über und übernahm 1963 die Führung der Stiftung Schweizerische Osteuropa Bibliothek (SOEB), die er bis 1996 auf- und ausbaute. Den Schwerpunkt seiner militärhistorischen Forschungstätigkeit bildeten der Zweite Weltkrieg in Bezug auf Ungarns Rolle und jene der anderen Verbündeten des deutschen Reiches sowie der Ungarische Volksaufstand 1956. Nach der politischen Wende im Osteuropa 1989/90 wurde er in Ungarn rehabilitiert und ihm wurden mehrere Ehrungen zuteil, wie etwa der Grosse Verdienstorden, verbunden mit der Beförderung zum Oberst der Ungarischen Streitkräfte, sowie die Verleihung der Ehrendoktorwürde der Universität Budapest.(aus Wikipedia).
