Published in Wrexham in 1921, this is a very scarce privately printed book produced to commemorate the Egerton family memorial located in Chester Cathedral, the memorial consists of four stained glass windows and a memorial tablet listing 13 members of the Egerton family. Who were killed or missing in the First World War. The book is bound in a full blue leather binding, just under 9.5 inches tall, 57 pages, well-illustrated with portrait plates and other pieces. The book bears the ownership bookplate of Gerald Poynton Mander of Tettenhall who was well known for collecting books of genealogy and family histories. Loosely inserted into the book is an old engraved portrait of Sir Thomas Egerton 1st Viscount Brackley (c-1540-11617) published in 1794, He is the single most important historical figure in the entire Egerton lineage, serving as Lord Keeper of the Great Seal and Lord High Chancellor under both Queen Elizabeth I and King James I. CONDITION The binding has some obvious signs of wear with loss to top of spine, rubbing and scraping wear to leather else in fair condition as seen, internally a rubbed and thinned spot to top of title page, some foxing to title page else contents generally clean.
