Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Poor. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 64 pages, a look at certain islands in the Eastern Caribbean in 1952-3 by this renowned traveller and writer, who had previously been a private secretary to the Governor of Trinidad. SIGNED by him on the half-title page as a dedication to Jim Britton (?), though his handwriting has faded a little. The book has much on Martinique, Saint Lucia and Dominica, and he spares nothing of the conditions which he observed in the post-war years when the region struggled. There is damage to top left of front cover which affects the upper spine and the front pastedown (see accompanying illustrations); it looks likely that the front free end paper has been removed, hence the half-title page is the first page; foxing on that page and also its rear equivalent; binding split at the front end papers; internally good except for a mild inclination to foxing. Signed by Author(s).
