En 1909, Emanuel Gyger ouvre un magasin à Adelboden avec Hermann Eggimann, puis s'installe en 1910 dans la dépendance de l'hôtel Regina (Dorfstrasse) qu'il vient d'acquérir. En 1930, il s'associe à son ancien apprenti A…rnold Klopfenstein. Les prises de vue de Gyger soulignent la structure massive de la montagne, son volume et son inaccessibilité; il fixe aussi par l'image l'homme dans sa relation à la montagne.
